Jesus' Commandments

[Under Construction]

Jesus provided a simple test so that everyone could know if they loved Him as they should.

"If ye love me, keep my commandments." - John 14:15

And to make sure he was perfectly clear, Jesus provided the same message in the negative:

"He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me." - John 14:24

So what are Jesus' commandments? I have listed many of them below that were verbally spoken by him. Let us start with the top two great commandments:

Matthew 22:36-40, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Matthew 4:7, "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."

Matthew 5:22, "But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."

Matthew 5:28, "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

Matthew 5:32, "But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

Matthew 5:39, "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."

Matthew 5:40, "And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also."

Matthew 5:42, "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away."

Matthew 5:44, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Matthew 6:14-15, "14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Matthew 6:19, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:"

You can not love Jesus' and keep his commandments unless you are saved. Make sure you are saved today and you can love Him and develop a personal relationship with Him.

In Christ alone.
